What is the Distance that is to be Maintained between a Wifi Extender and the Router?

When you get a wifi range extender, you need to set it up on mywifiext and then move and keep it at a place where it is getting good wifi signals. While configuring the extender there is a different distance to be maintained with the router and after setup the distance again changes. Therefore it is very important to pay attention to the steps of setting up the extender both the before and after guidelines.

Prerequisites before Setting up the extender

Before you begin configuring the wifi range extender, you need to see the few points here so that you may not get any errors or issues while setting up.

First of all the distance here between the router and the wifi extender should not be too great. The extender should be kept in the same room as that of the router
The connection between the extender and the computer should also be firmly established
Web browser/s should be updated to the latest versions
The internet should be in a state that it allows good enough working condition
Now after fulfilling the above prerequisites, you can continue and configure your wifi range extender, keeping the extender near the router.

Extender Setup

The extender setup is very easy and you can do it without any problems. Just follow the steps given below –

Check for the green power LED on the extender. It should be lit up solid green
Open your browser and go to address bar
Type the site link mywifiext.net
Press enter and see the login page appear
Fill the default login credentials and press login
The next page will be the extender setup page
Setup the extender according to the steps given there
Finish the setup
Now after the setup is complete your wifi extender is ready to moved and placed elsewhere.

Placement of the Extender

After finishing configuring the device, you can move the extender and place it at a spot where the extender gets good signals indicated by the green LED. You should keep the extender in between the router and the wifi enabled devices. If you are not getting a good signal you should move the extender closer to the router. The green LED shows good wifi signal is being received, amber shows fair quality signals and red shows no wifi signals are being received or the signals are very weak. If you see red LED then you should probably pick a different spot for the extender.

In case you face any issues in the placement of the wifi range extender you should try to reset the extender and try again. Sometimes the extender is not configured in a right manner which will give errors or issues in connecting the wifi enabled devices.

Resetting the Extender

If you wish to reset the wifi range extender at mywifiext local, you need to press and hold the reset button on the side of the extender with the help of a pin or paper clip. When you release the reset button the extender will start restoring all its factory settings erasing all kinds of settings done by you and also resetting the changed credentials (if any) to the earlier default one. Now you can configure it afresh.
